Why you should be careful on the internet?

                                                       Intro:

Are you aware of the risks of giving out personal information online? Are you sure that their the right person to give the information to?  We all know a lot of the time we’re online whether it’s doing homework, keeping in touch with family and friends, posting or searching on social media or even shopping online.  But sometimes we just need to think about it and stay safe online. My speech is about why you should be careful on the internet?. Here are my reasons….

1. There could be inappropriate sites or things that pop up
2. You don’t know who’s behind the screen
3. You could get your identity stolen

Firstly there could be inappropriate sites or things that pop up, a lot of the time it is where we click on the wrong thing or download things that could be very dangerous. For instance if you go on a website and there are heaps of ads on the side and you accidently click on it, it could say like win 1,000,000 and it could grab your attention and you might even get a virus on your device because you’re not aware or sure of it.

There are some rules made there for a reason. 1 of those rules are that you have to be 13 and over on social media, now this only applies on some sites, but a lot of people ignore this rule, mostly kids under age.

Secondly you don’t know who’s behind the screen. If you’re on social media or on a hangout chat room and you’re talking to someone online that you don’t know, you need to be more careful. You never know they might even pretend to be one of your friends, they could be asking personal questions such as what’s your address, how old are you or even your phone number. A lot of people go through this especially children and teens they even get their account hacked and their not able to log into their account. Did you know each year over 12 million people get their account hacked and most of them are children and teens that's 1 million people per month.

Finally you could get your identity stolen. So we’re gonna talk more into the hacking. If someone hacks into your device or account they could pretend or steal your identity and then you have no control of it. When you’re online, if you’re giving out personal information to a person or an organization always be careful and be sure that they are who they say they are. If you’re banking online you need to make sure that you are not doing it in a shop or around heaps of people you never know what could happen.

You really need to be careful when you’re online because it is not safe. There are a lot of idiots out there that are stupid enough to hack into people’s things and accounts.

In conclusion I think we should be careful on the internet because....

There could be inappropriate sites or things that pop up,

You don’t know who’s behind the screen and

You could get your identity stolen. I hope you know know to be  safe on the internet. When we’re online you need to be very careful, the online world can be very dangerous that’s why you need to be safe and stay aware of it and don’t forget to make sure you’re on the right sight and don’t give out personal information to people you don’t know.
